Cos’è questo farmaco?

IMATINIB interferisce con la crescita di alcune cellule tumorali.

Imatinib è usato per trattare alcuni tipi di leucemia (tumore del sangue), disturbi del midollo osseo, e il cancro della pelle, o di alcuni tumori dello stomaco e apparato digerente.

Come dovrei prendere questo farmaco?

Prendere Imatinib esattamente come prescritto dal medico.

Assumere il farmaco con un bicchiere d'acqua.

Si può sciogliere la compressa di Imatinib in acqua o succo di mela per rendere più facile la deglutizione.

Imatinib deve essere assunto con un pasto. Non assumere Imatinib a stomaco vuoto.

Imatinib può abbassare i globuli che aiutano a combattere le infezioni e aiutano il sangue a coagulare. Sarà necessario fare spesso le analisi del sangue. Le terapie per il cancro possono essere ritardate sulla base dei risultati di questi esami.

Non si deve usare Imatinib in caso di allergia a imatinib.

Categoria D FDA di gravidanza. Non usare Imatinib in caso di gravidanza.

Cosa può interagire con questo farmaco?

Informare il medico di tutti i medicinali che si prendono e di quelli di cui si inizia o si interrompe l'uso durante il trattamento con Imatinib, in particolare:

  • Paracetamolo;
  • Aprepitant;
  • Bosentan;
  • Cimetidina;
  • Ciclosporina;
  • Aloperidolo;
  • Erba di San Giovanni;
  • Antibiotici;
  • Farmaci antimicotici;
  • Antidepressivi;
  • Un anticoagulante, come il warfarin, Coumadin;
  • Farmaci per il cuore o la pressione sanguigna;
  • Farmaci per l’epatite C;
  • Farmaci per HIV / AIDS; o
  • Farmaci per l’epilessia

A cosa dovrei prestare attenzione prendendo questo farmaco?

Evitare di stare vicino a persone che sono malate o hanno infezioni. Informare il medico se si sviluppano segni di infezione.

Evitare attività che possano aumentare il rischio di emorragie o lesioni. Prestare la massima attenzione per prevenire le emorragie durante la rasatura o mentre ci si lava i denti.

Pompelmo e succo di pompelmo possono interagire con Imatinib e portare effetti potenzialmente pericolosi. Evitare l'uso di prodotti a base di pompelmo durante l'assunzione di questo farmaco.

Quali effetti collaterali posso notare prendendo questo farmaco?

Cercare assistenza medica di emergenza in caso di reazione allergica.

Chiamate il medico in caso di:

  • Febbre, brividi, dolori muscolari, sintomi influenzali;
  • Ecchimosi, emorragie, macchie puntiformi viola o rosse sotto la pelle;
  • Gonfiore, aumento rapido di peso, sensazione di fiato corto (anche con sforzo lieve);
  • Nausea, dolore alla parte superiore dello stomaco, prurito, perdita di appetito, urine scure, feci color argilla, ittero (ingiallimento della pelle o degli occhi);
  • Feci sanguinose o, tosse con sangue o vomito che assomiglia a chicchi di caffè;
  • Dolore alla parte bassa della schiena, sangue nelle urine, minzione scarsa o assente;
  • Sensazione di intorpidimento o formicolio intorno alla bocca;
  • Debolezza muscolare, senso di oppressione, o contrazione, riflessi iperattivi;
  • Battito cardiaco veloce o lento, polso debole, confusione, svenimenti, o
  • Grave reazione cutanea - febbre, mal di gola, gonfiore del viso o della lingua, bruciore agli occhi, dolore cutaneo, seguito da una eruzione cutanea rossa o viola che si diffonde e provoca vesciche e desquamazione.

Comuni effetti collaterali possono includere:

  • Lieve nausea o mal di stomaco, vomito, diarrea;
  • Dolori articolari o muscolari; oppure
  • Mal di testa, sensazione di stanchezza.
